2021 has been a year of growth, opportunities, innovation, and successes for the team at the Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) at Morehouse School of Medicine. This year we welcomed new staff members, senior fellows, and interns to the team who have all contributed to advancing Dr. David Satcher’s legacy of working towards eliminating health disparities for racial and ethnic minorities through education, programs, and continued research of health inequities.   The Kennedy-Satcher Center for Mental Health Equity (KSCMHE), in partnership with the Wellpath Cares Foundation, will host a series of virtual roundtables to address the landscape of inequities that affect justice-involved individuals. The invited panelists will represent a diverse, inclusive, and unique set of voices in the field, to speak on a myriad of issues that influence outcomes for individuals affected by the criminal justice system. The Satcher Health Leadership Institute (SHLI) is now accepting applications for the 2022 Community Health Leadership Program (CHLP). The SHLI-CHLP is designed to close the gap between academic medicine or academic health centers and the communities of greatest need by connecting to people who are most affected by disparities. The goal is to develop and/or enhance community health leaders who are educated, motivated, and mobilized to lead community groups in changing health behavior, improving environmental health, and influencing policies to support community health.
