SIGN ON: Coverage Gap Sign-On Letter to U.S. Democratic Senators
September 21, 2021
Please SIGN ON and help us share this sign-on letter FAR AND WIDE before the deadline, this Friday (9/17) at 10am ET/9am CT/8am MT/7am PT.
This letter will go to senators asking that they support the House Energy and Commerce Committee policy to provide a permanent & comprehensive fix to America’s coverage gap. This gap is currently leaving over 2 million uninsured Americans living under the poverty line, predominantly from communities of color, without any access to healthcare coverage.
Because this is the only health care policy in the Build Back Better Act that directs resources specifically to low-income Americans, 60% of whom are people of color, who have no other pathway to coverage, we are asking that health equity advocates from across the nation - in expansion and non-expansion states alike - join us to advance economic and racial justice.
It is time for us to correct this deep structural injustice. We thank all of you across the country for standing beside us to ask that our country make healthcare equitable to all people, no matter their race, income, or zip code.
On behalf of the Southerners for Medicaid Expansion Coalition, we truly appreciate your support.
